“Understanding Hispanic/Latino Culture”
Cultural insights in communicating with Hispanics/Latinos Culture is a learned system of knowledge, behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, values, and norms that is shared by a group of people. In the broadest sense, culture includes how people think, what they do, and how they use things to sustain their lives.
“What is Culturally Responsive”
Cultural responsiveness is a new way of thinking about culture.It means being open to new ideas that may conflict with the ideas, beliefs and values of your own culture, and being able to see these differences as equal.
“Student Voices”
The purpose of this study was to identify the needs of students of color whether it be cultural, academic, emotional or social. A student interview initiative was established and implemented by the Coordinators of Diversity Student/Family Engagement. The ultimate goal was to initiate change in the school culture (climate).
