AP Exam Day Reminders

Exam Times

  • Morning Exams:  8:00 am to 12:00 pm

    • Students should arrive for the exam between 7:30 – 7:45 am.

    • Students who arrive after 8:00 am will not be allowed into the testing room and will have to make other arrangements to take the exam.

    • Students are not allowed to leave until the designated exam ending time. 

  • Afternoon Exams:  12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

    • Students should arrive for the exam between 11:30 – 11:45 am.

    • Students who arrive after 12:00 pm will not be allowed into the testing room and will have to make other arrangements to take the exam.

What students must bring:

  • Several sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers) for all responses on their multiple-choice answer sheet.

  • Pens with black or dark-blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams.

  • Up to two approved calculators with the necessary capabilities if they are taking an AP Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics Exam. Students should visit apstudent.collegeboard.org/apcourse to find the calculator policy for their subject. 

  • A ruler or straightedge only if they are taking an AP Physics Exam (Protractors are not allowed).

  • Required – A valid photo I.D. (driver’s license or school-issued photo ID).

  • If applicable, their SSD Student Accommodation Letter which verifies that they have been approved for a testing accommodation. 

  • A small snack or drink for the designated break time.

No other items will be allowed in the testing room!  This includes:

  • Electronic devices:  Cell phones, PDAs, MP3 players, pagers, or any other electronic or communication devices.

  • Watches of any type.

  • Extra materials:  books, compasses, colored pencils*, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters*, or notes.

  • Rulers or straightedges (except students taking the AP Physics Exams).

  • Scratch paper (notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets).

  • Computers (except as noted for students with disabilities).  

  • Calculators (except students taking the AP Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics Exams).  Visit the most current lists of AP-approved calculators on collegeboard.com student site.

  • Portable listening* or recording devices (even with headphones) or photographic equipment.

  • Clothing with subject-related information.

  • Food or drink*

*Unless this has been pre-approved as an accommodation by the College Board Services for Student with Disabilities office prior to the test date.

Please Note:  Advanced Placement testing is an extension of the regular school day. The KUSD school dress code will be enforced.
