Policy 6210 – School Year Calendar

The school year in the district shall consist of at least the minimum number of instructional minutes/hours required by state law. The school calendar for each ensuing school year shall be established by the School Board and consistent with state law. The school calendar shall be posted in all district buildings.

The length of the school day shall be established by the School Board in accordance with state law. The amount of time students spend in school shall comply with or exceed the minimum instructional minutes/hours mandated by the state law and regulations.

The school year calendar shall be presented and approved by the board. Reasonable effort will be used to present and approve future calendars at least 16 months prior to the respective start date. Calendar adjustments due to unforeseen events will be made as necessary.
