Policy 5440 – Married Students and School Age Parents
Married students and school age parents shall have an equal opportunity to participate in regular school program and activities.
Counseling shall be provided to school age parents to make them aware of alternative programs and services available to meet their needs. “School age parent” includes any person under the age of 21 who is not a high school graduate and is a parent, an expectant parent, or a person who has been pregnant within the immediately preceding 120 days.
Pregnant students continuing in the regular school program may be excused by the principal from participation in any classes or activities which would be deemed inappropriate by their doctor. In such cases the principal will notify appropriate teachers upon receipt of a written statement from the pregnant student’s doctor.
Married students and school age parents shall comply with the same rules and regulations which govern the general student body.
