KUSD's 64th annual Band-O-Rama to be held February 1

KENOSHA, Wis. (Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025) – The Kenosha Unified School District’s 64th annual Band-O-Rama will take place at Indian Trail High School and Academy, 6800 60th St., on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m. This event will showcase nearly 1,500 students from KUSD’s elementary, middle, high and charter schools.

Tickets for this popular event are sold out. Tickets will not be available at the door. The event will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel. Guests may also watch the live stream for free with no ticket required in the Indian Trail auditorium on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year’s guest conductor is Dr. Karen Fannin, director of the School of Music, professor of conducting, and the Robert M. Spire music chair at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Previously, Dr. Fannin served as director of bands at UNO, conducting the symphonic wind ensemble, teaching undergraduate and graduate conducting, instructing courses in music education, and providing leadership for all aspects of the UNO band program.

Before working with UNO, Dr. Fannin was director of bands and department chair at Hendrix College and concurrently held the position of music director and conductor of the Little Rock Winds. A native of Iowa, Dr. Fannin began her teaching career as director of bands in the Lynnville-Sully Schools and subsequently served as director of bands at Lockport Township High School in suburban Chicago.

Participating directors and their schools are Karl Mueller, Bradford High School; Joseph Tackett, Harborside Academy; Michael Monk, Indian Trail High School and Academy; Kathy Ripley, Tremper High School; Katie Poole, Bullen Middle School; Brittany Teschler, Kenosha School of Technology Enhanced Curriculum; Matt Maccari, Lance Middle School; Stacey Zwirlein, Mahone Middle School; Geoff Poole, Ruth Harman Academy; Lucas Dickinson, Washington Middle School; and elementary directors Leslie Cook, Leslie Hoffman, Nathan Larsen and Kristie Kruse. Scott Plank, coordinator of fine arts, will serve as master of ceremonies.
