KENOSHA, Wis. (Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024) – The Kenosha Unified School District’s 63rd annual Band-O-Rama will take place at Indian Trail High School and Academy, 6800 60th St., on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 6:30 p.m. This event will showcase nearly 1,500 students from KUSD’s elementary, middle, high and charter schools.
Tickets are available at kusd.edu/tickets. Tickets for field house seating are $5 for students, $10 for staff and seniors, and $12 for adults. Tickets will not be available at the door and field house seating may sell out in advance. The event will also be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel. Guests may watch the live stream for free with no ticket required in the Indian Trail auditorium.
This year’s guest conductor is Dr. Matthew Arau, associate professor of music and the chair of the music education department at Lawrence University. Arau will visit each of the secondary schools on Thursday, Jan. 25, and Friday, Jan. 26, to present clinics and offer feedback to students in preparation for the event. Arau will conduct both the eighth-grade and high school concerts, while KUSD directors will conduct the remaining middle and elementary groups. Nearly 400 elementary students from more than 20 elementary schools also will merge for this event, which will be the first public performance for the 2023-24 fifth-grade band members.
Keeping with tradition, the event will open with a mass performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” by all students in grades seven through twelve and will close with a performance of “The Stars and Stripes Forever.” Participating directors and their schools are Karl Mueller, Bradford High School; Joseph Tackett, Harborside Academy; Michael Monk, Indian Trail High School and Academy; Kathy Ripley, Tremper High School; Angela Barone, The Brompton School; Katie Poole, Bullen Middle School; Geoff Poole, Dimensions of Learning Academy; Brittany Teschler, Kenosha School of Technology Enhanced Curriculum; Matt Maccari, Lance Middle School; Nathan Larsen, Lincoln Middle School; Stacey Zwirlein, Mahone Middle School; Lucas Dickinson, Washington Middle School; and elementary directors Leslie Cook, Leslie Hoffman, Kristie Kruse and Geoff Poole. Scott Plank, coordinator of fine arts, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
