Multi-Level System of Support
At KUSD, we believe in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential, both academically and socially. Our tiered approach to instruction and support—Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3—addresses the unique needs of each learner, including academic, social/emotional, and behavioral development, while maintaining high standards.
We are dedicated to providing every student with high-quality education, promoting a safe and inclusive learning
environment, fostering positive behavior, and supporting social/emotional learning. We also prioritize building strong partnerships with families and the community to ensure comprehensive support for each student’s success.

Tier 2: Targeted Support
- Data-driven: focused interventions in response to data

- Ongoing monitoring: Teachers adjust support based on ongoing data
Tier 3: Intensive Remediation
- For students with significant challenges: Personalized, small group intensive support for academic and social/emotional needs
- Individualized plans: Focused, small group support to help students meet grade-level expectations
- Progress monitoring: Teachers track progress an adjust strategies to address academic and behavior gaps in learning
Identification for Additional Enrichment Services
Students are identified through a screening process in first grade for additional elementary enrichment services and in fifth grade middle school enrichment services.
Students may also be considered for screening for additional enrichment services through the building’s MLSS Tier 3 team.
K-8 Enrichment Programs
The Elementary Enrichment Program is located at Roosevelt Elementary School. The program provides a challenging and enriching learning environment. Classroom instruction is designed to dive deeper into grade level district curriculum, resulting in a higher level of rigor in order to meet individual student academic needs. Students who elect to remain in their boundary school will have their academic needs met through differentiation of the grade level curriculum in the general education classroom. The district does not provide transportation to Roosevelt.
The Middle School Enrichment Program is a Blended Learning Program in partnership with the Kenosha eSchool. Students entering 6th grade may qualify for Reading, Math or both areas. This is a boundary middle school program and not offered at the Choice/Charter schools. Students who qualify will be invited to participate in the program.
Blended Learning Program ELA
- 6th grade: English Honors course that is instructed by the Kenosha eSchool teacher. This is an asynchronous course where the student will work independently on lessons and one day a week, students will participate in a virtual classroom with other students and the instructor.
- 7th grade: Students can decide to remain with eSchool for 7th grade Honors English OR they can attend the in-person 7th grade Honors English Class offered at their school.
- 8th grade: Students can decide to remain with eSchool for 8th grade Honors English OR they can attend the in-person 8th grade Honors English Class offered at their school.
Blended Learning Program Math (hyper accelerated program)
Sixth grade students will complete a sixth grade honors Kenosha eSchool course first semester and a seventh grade honors Kenosha eSchool course second semester.
In seventh grade middle school students will be scheduled to take algebra with eighth grade students in their middle school, or they may choose to take the Kenosha eSchool algebra course.
Students who successfully complete algebra in seventh grade will take geometry in eighth grade. It may be possible to take geometry in person at the student’s boundary high school if there is space available in the course, or students may take the Kenosha eSchool geometry course. The district does not provide transportation between the middle school and high schools.
