Identification
Parent/Guardian Referral
If a parent/guardian feels a child’s needs are not being met through classroom differentiation or select enrichment services, then a referral should be made for more intensive enrichment services.

A parent/guardian may refer students for consideration for intensive enrichment services at any time.

A referral form should be filled out and returned to the child’s teacher. Referral forms are available at the schools or here.
Staff Member Referral
If a staff member feels a child’s needs are not being met then a referral should be made for more intensive enrichment services.

Any staff member can initiate a referral at any time.

The referring staff member should notify the parent/guardian that a referral has been made.
Universal Screener (First Grade)
A universal screening process will be conducted through the Office of Talent Development at the first grade level. The following assessments are administered.

Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3)

Cognitive Abilities Test 7 (CogAT-7)

Scales for Identifying Gifted Students (SIGS) Home Rating Scale

Scales for Identifying Gifted Students (SIGS) School Rating Scale
Universal Screener (Fifth Grade)
A universal screening process will be conducted through the Office of Talent Development at the fifth grade level.

Identify students who meet the following criteria

Advanced in reading or math on the fourth grade WSAS
-
Score in the 95th percentile or above on the Fall and Winter Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessment for reading or math (fifth grade)

The following assessments are administered to the identified students.
