Middle School Summer School
As a result of the COVID 19 pandemic, most day-to-day activities including school, work, grocery shopping, etc. look much different than they did pre-COVID. Many students were able to quickly adjust to changes in school and continue learning successfully; but, there are also students who are struggling with the transition resulting in critical skill gaps in reading and/or math. For this reason, summer school 2021 is designed solely for those students who need small group intensive instruction in reading and/or math to close the learning gaps. Middle schools will identify students with learning gaps in reading and/or math for participation in summer school. Registration forms will be provided to these families starting the first week of March.
Students who are identified to participate in Summer School will begin class in person on Monday, June 21, 2021, and complete summer school on Thursday, July 29, 2021. There will be no school on Monday, July 5, 2021 in observance of Independence Day. Summer school will be held Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with each day having a two-hour reading session and a two-hour math session. Depending on the identified area of need students will be invited to attend one or both sessions. Transportation, following the same guidance as is used during the school year, will be provided as needed.
Please contact the middle school your student currently attends for questions related to the registration process.
Beginning in the summer of 2021, student enrollment for summer physical education courses will be determined by a lottery process. Lottery enrollment takes place from Monday, March 8 to March 15, 2021. Enrollment information is available on the High School Summer Physical Education Information page.
