KENOSHA, Wis. (Friday, Feb. 20, 2026) – Kenosha Unified will host its districtwide Black History Bee on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in the Mahone Middle School auditorium, 6900 60th St.
After spending the month of February studying the lives and legacies of 50 influential Black Americans, fourth and fifth grade students will compete in school-level bees on Tuesday, March 3. One student from each elementary school will advance to represent their school in the districtwide competition.
The Black History Bee challenges students to demonstrate not only memorization but also an understanding of the historical figures who have shaped the nation through leadership, innovation, activism, the arts, science, and public service.
In addition to the academic competition, fourth and fifth grade students across the district have participated in Black History Art and Writing contests. Selected winners will be recognized for their creative work during the March 5 event.
