School Nursing
In addition to the Nurses placed at the 3 comprehensive High Schools, Kenosha Unified School District contracts with Kenosha County Public Health to provide school nursing services. - Teach Family Life curriculum to the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students
- Train and educate staff on how to give emergency medications
- Train office staff how to administer daily medications
- Perform weekly counts on all controlled medications
- Write emergency health plans
- Case management for chronic health conditions (asthma, diabetes, anaphylaxis, etc.)
- Train and educate first responders in each building we cover
- Provide daily consulting to school staff regarding illness, injuries, and other medical issues
Special Health Needs Nursing
The mission of the Special Health Needs Nursing Team is to ensure that every student with disabilities with complex or chronic health conditions has access to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. We are committed to promoting student health, safety, and well-being through individualized care planning, collaboration with families and healthcare providers, and empowering students to manage their health needs during the school day.
Through advocacy, education, and compassionate care, we strive to minimize health-related barriers to learning and help all students reach their full academic and personal potential.
