Summer Fine Arts 2026

Beginning Strings – $15
This course is for students who have never played an instrument before.
• This course is only open to students enrolled in KUSD • Completed grades 4 and 5
• Registration begins May 19, 2026 • Classes run June 16 through July 16 • Concert July 16 at Indian Trail High School
Classes are 55 minutes in length, Tuesday through Thursday; students should plan to attend all three classes each week for the duration of the course. There will be sessions available mornings, afternoons and evenings, and will be filled on a first-come/first served basis as students register. The 5th grade orchestra teachers will provide class and instrument information when they meet with students this spring. Classes will be offered at Bradford High School and Tremper High School. Cadet Strings – $15
This course is for students who participated in 5th grade orchestra.

This will be a fun ensemble experience helping students get ready to play in the middle school orchestra in the fall! Classes are 55 minutes in length, Tuesday through Thursday; students should plan to attend all three classes each week for the duration of the course. The KUSD Cadet Band will give students the opportunity to play in an ensemble and keep their musical skills sharp. The goal of this program is to help foster students’ love of music-making and provide the enjoyment that comes with playing music together with others. We will focus on the idea of “ensemble playing” to make sure each student is ready for 6th grade, where they will get to perform with an ensemble everyday! Classes will meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for one 90 minute session each day from 1-2:30 p.m. at Indian Trail High School. Sectional classes, where each instrument group will get to work with a professional on their instrument, will be integrated into the rehearsal schedule. Continental Band – $20 (additional fees may apply)
This course is for students who have participated in 6th grade band.

The KUSD Continental summer band provides students the opportunity to play in a concert ensemble setting while keeping their musical skills sharp. The goal of this program is to foster students’ love of music-making and the enjoyment that comes with playing music with others in an ensemble that is traditionally larger than their home school. Classes meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1-3:30 p.m. at Indian Trail High School. Performances are the evening of July 9 (Indian Trail) and the Ice Cream Social July 13 (Bradford). Total registration for the program is $20, the optional trip on July 15 to Noah’s Ark ($30) at the end of the program is not included in the cost of registration. • Mandatory parent meeting April 27 at 6 p.m. at Indian Trail High School Auditorium
The KUSD Rambler summer band will give students the opportunity to play in an ensemble and keep their musical skills sharp. The goal of this program is to help foster students’ love of music-making and provide the enjoyment that comes with playing music with other students.
Classes will meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1-4 p.m. at Indian Trail High School from June 17 through July 9, with spring rehearsals from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday May 4, May 18, and June 1. Performances will include concerts and parades. There is a mandatory overnight band camp at Carthage from June 11-13. The base cost for Rambler Band is $175, with an extra cost for marching shoes and the season-end trip to Noah’s Ark, totaling $240. Partial scholarships are available for students who qualify. Band of the Black Watch – $200

The KUSD BLACK WATCH summer band provides students the opportunity to play in a large concert ensemble and march in area parades. The goal of this program is to help foster student’s love of music-making and provide the enjoyment that comes with playing music together with other students.
Classes will meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. at Indian Trail High School and Academy from June 16 through July 8, with spring rehearsals from 6-8 pm on Monday May 4, May 18, and June 1. There are performances on select weekend days. All students must attend a mandatory, overnight band camp at Carroll University June 11-14. Base cost is $200, with an extra cost for marching shoes and the season-end trip to Noah’s Ark. Partial scholarships are available for students who qualify. Color Guard – $200

The Kenosha Recreation Summer Color Guard program is open to all students with an interest in contemporary pageantry arts. The color guard experience will focus on equipment fundamentals (flag, rifle and sabre), dance and movement basics, and preparation of a program to present at the summer Ice Cream Social event in July. The color guard will also support Rambler Band and BAND of the BLACKWATCH with their parade experiences. All interested students should plan to attend our pre-season spin sessions from 6-9 p.m. at Kenosha School of Language (KSOL) Gym on May 4, 11, 18; June 1. All students must attend a mandatory, overnight camp at Carroll University with Band of the Blackwatch June 11-14. KYPAC K-8 (Rock of Ages Youth Edition) – $75
• This course is open to students who live in the KUSD boundary (enrollment in KUSD not required to participate)
• Entering grades 1-9 • Program runs June 22-July 18 with rehearsals at Mahone Middle School, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. (No rehearsals on July 3)
• Performance dates: July 17 at 7 p.m and July 18 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Mahone Middle School
KYPAC (Kenosha Youth Performing Arts Company) is a summer musical theater program designed for students entering 1st grade through 9th grade. Students will go from PROCESS to PRODUCT, developing life skills through the study of acting, dance, music, and movement. Kenosha Youth Performing Arts Company (KYPAC): Summer Studio is a new summer opportunity! This advanced summer musical theatre experience is for students seeking continued artistic growth beyond traditional high school programming. Participants will move from process to product through focused rehearsal, ensemble collaboration, and skill development in acting, music, and technical theatre. This program emphasizes artistry, responsibility, and ensemble commitment, culminating in a fully staged musical performance. Show title TBD.
