United Healthcare logo Welcome to Wellness!

I am Michelle Metallo, KUSD’s Health Engagement Nurse from United Healthcare. I’ve been a nurse for 22 years and in this role since 2022. I’ve practiced in pediatrics, college health, med-surg, and diabetes education. I am a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, certified in Exercise Science, Sports Management, and various other health related certifications.

I am here to encourage engagement in health and wellness. I support KUSD staff and families as you navigate your personal health journey.

I provide education, coaching, and support for

  • lifestyle behavior changes such as being active, healthy eating, sleep, weight management
  • emotional and mental health through self-care, coping mechanism, stress management, directing to programs, or further care
  • navigating chronic illness, new diagnosis, acute illness, and injury
  • providing assistance with health care decisions, finding providers, and where to go for care
  • preventative care, recommended screenings and tests
  • navigating UHC tools and resources, enrolling in UHC wellness programs
  • clarification and help with benefit claims
  • and more. If in doubt, please ask. I will do my best to help or at least point you in the right direction.

I have a monthly class held at the Educational Support Center (ESC). Please see the class schedule.

In addition, I am available to present in person or virtually, on health, wellness, mental health, UHC benefits, programs, or a Q&A. I can facilitate support groups, wellness challenges, and events, and perform blood pressure and body composition screenings.

I am located in room 140 in the Educational Support Building and will be visiting each school throughout the year to give staff a chance to meet with me.

I look forward to working with you!
