Media Advisory: Indian Trail Incident

KENOSHA, Wis. (Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025) – This morning at Indian Trail, 6800 60th St., a student from another KUSD high school briefly entered the building and left immediately when approached by school staff. At no point were threats made, and no one was harmed.

Staff immediately alerted the school resource officer, and the Kenosha Police Department promptly apprehended the suspect. A continued police presence may be visible in the area as the investigation remains ongoing.

As a precautionary measure, all KUSD schools, surrounding schools, and the YMCA were notified of the incident.

“The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority,” said KUSD Chief Communications Officer Tanya Ruder. “We are grateful for the swift response of our staff and the Kenosha Police Department in ensuring the safety of our school community.”

“The quick apprehension of the suspect was largely a result of the collaborative efforts that KUSD and the KPD have worked diligently to develop over the past several years,” said Kenosha Police Department Lt. Joshua Hecker. “Detectives from the KPD were dispatched to the school and are actively investigating the incident.”

I want to reassure you that all of our students and staff are safe following this morning’s incident when a student from another KUSD school briefly entered our building during second-period arrival. To reiterate, no threats were made, no weapons were involved, and no one was harmed.

The individual was quickly apprehended, and the situation was deemed a trespassing incident.

We take all safety matters seriously and appreciate the immediate response of our staff and the KPD. As a reminder, if students see or hear something, they should report it to a trusted adult or via SpeakUp SpeakOut.
