Counseling

Counselors’ Roles

School counselors work with students and their families within the Indian Trail High School & Academy learning community. Students are assigned a counselor in 9th grade and maintain that counselor through their high school career. School counselors assist students with academics, personal and social issues, and college and/or career readiness.

Academic Support

School counselors guide students as they strive to attain a high school diploma and create post-high school goals.  Counselors assist with yearly course registration to ensure students are focused on graduation and college or career readiness. Throughout the school year, counselors monitor students’ academic progress and offer assistance if needed.

Personal and Social Issues

School counselors support the emotional needs of students as they navigate through their high school experiences.  This includes information on topics like bully prevention, suicide prevention, decision making, and conflict resolution. School counselors are available throughout the school day.

College and Career Readiness

School counselors support students as they transition to life after high school. Through “Xello”, 10th grade students begin to focus on post-high school options, examining their own strengths and interests. School counselors assist 11th and 12th grade students with the college and career pathways, financial aid, scholarships, and letters of recommendation.
