Laude Recognition and Requirements
The Kenosha eSchool Program will use the KUSD laude system beginning with the Class of 2022. The
laude system is a tiered acknowledgement system that recognizes students for the rigor of their academic program as well as their success in that program rather than a traditional class ranking system. The laude system is used by many high schools and colleges both locally and nationally. There will be no designation of a school valedictorian or salutatorian. A range of weighted grade point averages determines the various tiers including summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude. The graph below shows the breakdown of the tiers in relationship to the weighted GPA range that qualifies student for their respective earned acknowledgment.
Laude Recognition | Weighted Grade Point Average Range |
Suma Cum Laude | 4.30-5.0 |
Magna Cum Laude | 4.0-4.29 |
Cum Laude | 3.70-3.99 |
Along with the implementation of the laude system, a new weighting system for KUSD for the Class of 2022 and beyond.
