Andrea Grace Wirch passed away on July 6, 2003. She was diagnosed with breast cancer three days before her death. She left a husband, Jeffery Wirch and a six month-old son Benjamin Dean Wirch. She also left hundreds of students who passed through her classroom in the seven years she worked for Kenosha Unified School District. Andrea student taught at McKinley Middle school and then chose to stay there and teach. While at McKinley she also gave her heart to coaching cheerleading and track. She touched children’s lives in so many ways. Andrea was involved, from the beginning, in the planning for Mahone Middle School. In the fall of 2002 the new middle school opened its doors and Andrea welcomed over one hundred new students into her eighth grade classroom. She was an outstanding teacher, wife, mother and friend. In her memory there are two scholarships offered yearly starting in 2007. It is our hope that her passion for children and education will continue on in these students who earn the scholarships.
