School History
Mahone Middle School was named after Mary Lou Mahone. It was built in 2002.
About Mary Lou Mahone
A woman of substance and elegance, Mary Lou Mahone played a big role in Kenosha. She was a dedicated leader and activist to her community achieving much in her life, from being the first black PTA President in Kenosha, to being a charter member of the Boys and Girls Club.
Mary Lou Mahone was also a strong guiding spirit, bounding people with love and prayer. In her private life she was a lover of literature and music, a gourmet cook, and a keeper of African-American culture. Due to her life work, Kenosha has been made a better city for everyone.
