Some students play sports, cheer, or are involved in the band. Others are involved in theatre or other groups. For some students, they have families that talk with them about being drug free. Announcements for Red Ribbon Week

Theme for Kenosha is “United Together, Let’s Stay Drug Free!”

Monday October 12:

Red Ribbon Week Fact #1. Today is the beginning of Red Ribbon Week. National Red Ribbon Week celebration pays tribute to a DEA Special Agent Enrique S. “Kiki” Camarena who was killed while trying to stop drug trafficking in the United States. This week during announcements we will be sharing facts about Red Ribbon Week. The winning slogan this year for Kenosha is “United Together, Let’s Stay Drug Free.”

Tuesday October 13:

Red Ribbon Week Fact #2. A child who reaches age 21 without smoking, using alcohol and other illegal drugs or abusing prescription drugs is virtually certain never to do so.

Red Ribbon Week Fact #3. Not everyone is doing drugs! Did you know that more than 7 out of 10 High School students do not use alcohol?

Wednesday October 14:

Red Ribbon Fact #4. Today’s drug fact is about inhalants. Inhalants are toxic chemicals that are sniffed or huffed to give the user an immediate head rush or high. Using inhalants even one time can put you at risk for sudden death, suffocation, visual hallucinations, severe mood swings, and numbness and tingling of the hands and feet.

Thursday October 15:

Red Ribbon Fact #5. Protect yourself! Here are four ways you can protect yourself: 1) Today find something you can do with your extra time. 2) Choose friends that support positive activities in your life. 3) Have a conversation with your parents or guardians about drugs. 4) Choose TV, movies, video games that promote positive activities.
