Student Email Information

PURPOSE: Kenosha Unified School District has begun the implementation of student email accounts through Google. Students will become technologically literate while collaborating, developing research skills, problem solving, and gaining experience using the tools to become ethical digital citizens.

ADDRESS: Students will be assigned an individual Kenosha Unified School District email address. The accounts will be used in the classroom for school related projects. It is important for parents to know that it is possible for students to use this account outside of school for personal e-mail; this is not encouraged by the District, nor will it be permitted in school.

ACCESS: Access to and use of student e-mail is considered a privilege accorded at the discretion of Kenosha Unified School District. Please refer to our email expectations (PDF) and School Board Policy 6633 Student Technology Acceptable Use Policy (PDF) for specific details on terms of use. Students shall abide by District guidelines governing Internet safety and acceptable use. Misuse of electronic resources, including the Internet, may result in loss of access privileges and school disciplinary action.

PRIVACY: Student email accounts are provided through Google and are, therefore, subject to the Google privacy policy and terms of use. Kenosha Unified School District will not provide any private student information to Google for the creation of the email accounts.

SECURITY: Kenosha Unified School District cannot and does not guarantee the security of electronic files located on the Google Mail system. Google does have a content filter, however, the district cannot ensure that users will not be exposed to unsolicited information. Electronic information, including the Internet, is dynamic. This makes it challenging to predict or reliably control what information students may encounter. District staff makes every reasonable effort to filter inappropriate content.
