Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Joel Dutton. I am very excited to be working with your child this year.  My goal is to support your child so they may reach their fullest potential in academics and build positive social skills to prepare them for fifth grade and beyond.

Currently, I am in my 26th year of teaching in KUSD. My teaching career began at Jefferson Elementary School. I taught at Jefferson for twenty years. During this time, I taught second grade for 10 years, was the Dean of Students for 2 years, and taught fifth grade for 8 years. I am fortunate to continue my teaching career at Grewenow Elementary School. Grewenow has a proud tradition of educational success that I am ecstatic to be a part of.

I have been married to my wife Kathy for 24 years. We are both from out of town. We met in college at UW Parkside and our professions have kept us in Kenosha. We have three unbelievable children. Reese is 22 and is a student at Kansas University where he plays baseball. Riley is 20 and is a student at UW Platteville where he is also playing baseball. Rory is 17 and is a senior at Tremper High School where he wrestles and plays baseball.  We are very fortunate that our sons have chosen to work hard at their academics, and as a result have become outstanding students. Outside the classroom, they play a variety of sports with wrestling and baseball as their top sports. Our family enjoys spending lots of quality time together.

I am a sports enthusiast that enjoys anything involving watching or participating in sports; and I coach.  This is my 21st year as the Head Wrestling Coach at Tremper High School. For relaxation, I like to hunt, fish, cook, woodworking, and do yard work.  I strive to be successful in my professional and personal life, and will work to motivate your child to strive to be successful in all aspects of school at Grewenow.
