About Bullen Middle School

Welcome to Bullen Middle School, home of the Bobcats!

Located in Kenosha, Bullen serves students in grades 6-8 and is proud to be part of the Kenosha Unified School District

Bullen Middle School is named in honor of John Bullen Jr., one of Kenosha’s founding pioneers. In 1835, Bullen led members of the Western Emigration Company from New York to the shores of Lake Michigan, where they established a settlement at the mouth of the Pike River. The community was originally known as Southport and later became the City of Kenosha. Through his leadership, entrepreneurship, and vision, John Bullen helped lay the foundation for the city that thousands of families call home today.

At Bullen, we strive to honor that pioneering spirit by preparing students to be confident learners, responsible citizens, and future leaders. We believe that strong relationships are the foundation for student success, and our dedicated staff works to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and connected.

Bullen is home to one of the district’s Dual Language programs, where students continue developing bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural understanding while mastering rigorous academic content. Through instruction in both English and Spanish, students strengthen their communication skills, expand their global perspectives, and gain valuable experiences that prepare them for success in an increasingly interconnected world. The Dual Language program reflects Bullen’s commitment to celebrating diversity and providing students with opportunities that extend beyond the traditional classroom experience.

Students at Bullen have access to a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities, including CORE intervention and enrichment periods, special education services, athletics, fine arts

, clubs, leadership experiences, and student mentoring programs. Our eighth-grade Transition Coaches serve as leaders within the school, helping incoming sixth-grade students build relationships and successfully navigate the middle school experience.

Bullen is proud of its diverse student population and is committed to ensuring every student experiences high levels of academic and social-emotional growth. Through collaboration with families and our community, we work to develop responsible, respectful, and resilient learners who are prepared for success in high school and beyond.

More than a school, Bullen is a community. We are proud of our traditions, our history, and the opportunities we provide for students to discover their passions, develop their talents, and make a positive impact on the world around them
