English Hello! My name is Ms. Konitzer and I teach 7th Grade English. I am a dedicated educator with seven years of teaching experience. Graduating from Carthage College with degrees in English and German, alongside a teaching certification, has equipped me with a strong foundation in language and education. Beyond academia, my love for reading, travel, and quality time spent with loved ones shapes my identity. My love for animals and my dedication to a vegan diet both hold a special place in my heart, reflecting my compassion and nurturing spirit. As an educator, my passion lies in guiding and inspiring students to reach their full potential. Embracing student-centered approaches, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that empowers each learner. My unique blend of personal interests and teaching philosophy forms the cornerstone of my role as an educator, driving me to foster growth and success in every student I encounter.

Science As an elementary and middle school science and math teacher, I have journeyed through teaching experiences in Milwaukee, Madison, and Mount Horeb, WI before joining the Lance Crew. I believe in the power of building things in class to engage students, fostering an environment where students help each other and learn to participate in discussions with thoughtfulness and kindness. Outside the classroom, you may find me experimenting in the world of encaustic wax art, exploring the great outdoors through hiking and trail running, or redecorating spaces in my home, all while tending to my beloved German Shepherd named Loki and reveling in the charm of chores alongside goats and cows.

Social Studies With over two decades of teaching experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the classroom. Having spent nine years in high school, three years as a dean, and nine years in middle school, I’ve taught a diverse range of subjects from Algebra Concepts to Biology to History. As a neurodivergent individual diagnosed with ADHD as a teenager, I harness my boundless energy to engage and inspire students; although I sometimes find interpersonal communication challenging. A seasoned traveler, I’ve lived in Michigan, Virginia, Key West, Florida, Phoenix, Arizona, and now call Kenosha, Wisconsin home. Alongside teaching, coaching is my true calling—I’ve coached football for 15 years, mentoring players from Tremper, Mahone, and Lincoln, some of whom have gone on to the NFL. Recently, I’ve dedicated eight years to coaching my son’s soccer teams. In my free time, I indulge in writing history lessons, playing paintball, and watching TikTok.

Math Hello everyone!! My name is Mr. Martin and I teach 7th Grade Math. I am a huge sports fan with my favorite teams being the Baltimore Ravens, Milwaukee Bucks, and Milwaukee Brewers. I go to a ton of games every year! I also enjoy being active, going on walks and runs as well as playing basketball when I have the time. My hobbies include collecting sneakers, watching movies, and playing video games. I went to UW-Parkside where I majored in Elementary Education and minored in ESL. I have spent extensive time in elementary and middle schools working with a wide array of students from rural and urban areas. One of the most significant things I have learned from these experiences is the importance of differentiating for the needs of my students in order for them to reach their full potential in my classroom. In order to differentiate effectively, it is vital for me to build relationships with students and parents to make sure there is an open line of communication establishing a foundation of trust. Building relationships takes time as it is a must to show that I am also there for the student’s emotional and social development in addition to their academic development. As a former retail store manager, building relationships with others and communicating properly and effectively in order to build trust are some of my strengths. Once that trust is built, I firmly believe that the students are going to be more willing and engaged in the content aspect of learning. Teaching content through research-backed methods and assessing students through a variety of both formative and summative assessments is vital to collecting data on how the students are performing in my classroom. Utilizing this data will impact my decision-making for each individual student and will allow me to continuously reflect on how to improve as an educator.
