Kindergarten vwells@kusd.edu

I am Mrs. Vicki Wells and I am very excited to be teaching kindergarten this year. I have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a specialized licence in early childhood development. I am a licensed reading specialist and have a second master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design. This is my 17th year teaching in KUSD and my 10th year at Grewenow.

I believe in children learning through play. It’s like hiding the peas under the mashed potatoes to get them to eat vegetables: they are learning important skills while enjoying the learning process. Every class has a variety of students who have a variety of skills and needs. For reading and math the students will learn in centers while I teach small groups of students the specific skills they need to progress towards their academic goals.

I have a wonderful husband that is a stay at home dad to our rambunctious 7 year old son! He is also a great chef, probably because he grew up cooking with his grandfather at Wells’ Brothers Pizza Restaurant in Racine! We love to play board games as a family when we’re not at my son’s hockey practices!

I’m so excited to start learning and having fun together this school year!
