Hello Grewenow Families,
My name is Ms. Steensen and I am the Head Start/ Pre-K teacher here at Grewenow. This is my second year as an Educator and with one year under my belt, I feel more equipped with the skills to be the best teacher I can be. As Educators, we are constantly learning, especially from the students we have! I love teaching the littlest Dragons and fostering in them a lifelong love for learning. KUSD’s Early Childhood Philosophy really enthused me because it emphasizes play, which is how our young children learn best. During the school day we sing, move our bodies, play, listen to stories, and learn about not only academic objectives, but also how to get along with others.
When I am not teaching, I love to be surrounded by others! My family and I love to try out new restaurants or eat my dad’s amazing home cooked meals, vacation preferably by a beach, or shop especially at Deals for Days! My boyfriend and I have been getting to explore Kenosha since we moved here, does it count if we are just from Racine ?, last year! I can be caught binging a Netflix show, reading a book, or doing yoga/ Zumba to unwind.
I am excited to cultivate a joy for learning in your student this year as well as form a relationship with your family!
