1. What time does school start in the morning and when does school let out?
1. Students enter the building at 8:04 A.M. and exit at 3:09 P.M. All students are dismissed at 12:03 P.M. on Fridays and early release days.

2. The school’s tardy bell rings at 8:10 a.m.
3. My child will be late getting to school this morning. What notifications should I make?
3. If your child is going to be late and wishes to have a hot lunch on that day, you must call the school office by 8:30 A.M.. If you cannot call before 8:30 A.M., please send a cold lunch to school with your child. In all cases please try calling the school as soon as possible. If you submit a “late in” request through your Infinite Campus parent portal, please include if your child will be hot lunch or cold lunch for that day.
4. Where do I pick up and drop off my child?
4. All PreK-4 PM students and K-5 students are dismissed on the west side (playground side) of the building. PreK-4 morning session students are dismissed in the front entrance. The east circular drive by the office is reserved for bus and day care vans only.
5. What time does the breakfast program start and where do they go in?
5. The breakfast program starts at 7:40 a.m. and ends at 7:55 a.m. The students lineup with their classes and enter with their teachers.
6. My child is sick and won’t be in school today. What notifications should I make?
6. The child’s parents or guardians should call the school office as early in the morning as possible so that the absence is excused. Feel free to leave a message on the school’s answering machine. Parents or guardians may also submit absences through their parent portal on Infinite Campus. If it’s not possible to contact the school office the day of absence please call the office as soon as possible.
7.Where is the lost and found?
7. The lost and found box is located near the school office. Check with office staff if looking for valuables and small items.
8. How much does milk cost?
8. One carton of milk is $0.45 for students in grades K-5.
9. What is the cost of a hot lunch for my child?
9. For the 2024-25 School Year, breakfast and lunch are free to students.
10. How can I add money to my child’s lunch ticket?
10. Money can be added to your student’s lunch ticket by either sending a check or money to school with your child or going to MySchoolBucks.com and follow the instructions there. There will be a processing delay for payments made in the school office as these payments are picked up 1x a week and processed at the Educational Support Center.
11. How will I know if the school is closed for a weather emergency?
11. In the event schools are closed or the arrival time is changed due to inclement weather and/or emergency/crisis situations, an announcement will be made:
- Via email and/or text message to all families and staff who have updated and accurate contact information listed in student and staff databases.
- On KUSD and school websites, KUSD Channel 20, social media platforms, and 262-359-SNOW (7669).
- Via the appropriate avenues to be shared on local and extended news station platforms.
Announcements will be made by 5:00 a.m. unless emergency circumstances require otherwise. If schools are closed, all after-school activities, including sports, fine arts and evening events, also will be canceled. When KUSD schools are closed, no transportation will be provided to private and parochial schools.
12. What is the Kenosha Unified School District attendance policy?
12. Students are allowed ten (10) excused absences per school year. A student’s absence may be excused for acceptable reasons such as:
- Personal illness
- Illness in the immediate family
- Death of a family member or relative
- Other reasons of legitimate health or educational benefit to the student
- Religious holiday
Prearranged Absences: approval of a request for a prearranged absence may be given in situations such as family, group, or individual activities of significant benefit to the student to warrant absence from school. The Principal may approve the prearranged absence of the student(s) upon written request from a parent/guardian.
Medical Absences: Any absence that has been excused by an authorized medical professional that provides specific date(s) and time period in which the student is excused from attending school.
Unexcused Absences: An unexcused absence is any absence in which either the parent/guardian has not excused the student from school, or the parent/guardian has attempted to excuse the student from school but the attempt excuse does not meet the accepted excused absence criteria. This also includes any absence after the allowed ten (10) excused absences without any medical excuse.
Truancy: A truancy absence is when a parent/guardian does not notify the school during the morning on a day when his/her student is absent. Such truancy may be reclassified as an excused or unexcused after the parent or guardian notifies the office.
