School History – Established in 1876!

Community is a huge part of our success at Pleasant Prairie Elementary School and it has been that way for over 140 years!  Our Motto that is posted over the main entrance is the same that was in our building in 1922, “Let the Spark of Learning Glow”.  The engraved motto from the original 1922 building is now displayed inside our school main entrance foyer, the one outside the entrance is a replica of the original. With this motto and a strong sense of community we have everything we need to succeed!  We have a proud history, a wonderful focus on character and a deep history that has taught a community the power of learning and the importance of a light that will shine. Our current school building was built in 1994 but history dates back to 1876!

Mission & Values

The mission of Pleasant Prairie Elementary School, a diverse learning community, is to build a strong foundation for all students to reach their highest potential by providing quality instruction, challenging opportunities, and building principles of character in a welcoming environment.

We Are A Team.     We Believe All Students Can Learn and Succeed.     We Believe in Character.

The Pleasant Prairie Way – We’ve Got Character!

Character is one of the key pillars of our school culture. It shapes who we are.  It shapes how we treat each other.  It teaches us how to be compassionate, honest, and work hard.  Our School wide effort produces not only smart students but students with good character that are kind, sharing, giving, and willing to put forth that added effort to be the best they can be.

What does character look like?  It shows through a common school language.  It is evident in the “feel” of the school.  It is displayed in positive acts of students and staff.  It is the welcoming presence of parents, volunteers and visitors. It is the displays and messages that we want to be the best of who we are. It is the friendliness of each other and kindness students show to others.  It is the connection that binds us together around something good.
