Parent Involvement

Pre-school classrooms need parents to be involved with their child. Your involvement tells your child that school is important, encourages your child to learn, as well as helps our pre-school programs meet state and federal government requirements.

There are many ways to be involved in pre-school. You can:

• Serve on the Head Start Policy Council.  The Policy Council makes sure that we are following federal guidelines and providing our children with a great Head Start experience.
• Attend Parent Meetings. Parent Meetings are ways for parents to learn how to help their child be a better reader or to learn skills to be a better parent. Parent Meetings are offered during the day and in the evening. They are in Spanish and English.
• Volunteer in the classroom. We always have activities that you can help us with!
• Participate in Home Visits and attend Parent-Teacher Conferences.
• Read to your child every day. This is one of the easiest activities you can do to ensure that your child does well in school!

As you can see, there are many opportunities to participate. We ask that you volunteer one hour each month to help our programs.

When Visiting Your Child’s Classroom…

Parents are always welcome in our classrooms. Your involvement and support of classroom activities make our program a successful one. To visit your child’s classroom we ask:

Please use the front door of the building.

Please report to the office of the building or to Jackie, the Administrative Specialist at Chavez Learning Station immediately. You will need to sign in and receive a visitor badge. The visitor badge will identify you to the children and staff as a welcomed visitor.

Please sign out and return the visitor badge when you leave.

It is important that we know you are in the building even if only for a short time. The safety of our children is important to all of us. Please help us by honoring the above requests.
