Southport Elementary is excited to announce the launch of our School Improvement Plan, a focused effort to ensure we continually grow and provide the best possible learning environment for our students. This plan is not just about addressing challenges—it’s about embracing opportunities to enhance our academic programs, strengthen community engagement, and foster a culture of excellence. Every member of our school community plays a vital role in this journey, and together, we will build on our strengths, learn from our experiences, and move forward with a shared commitment to progress. With a positive mindset, dedication to continuous improvement and intentional reflection on our practice we are determined and confident that we will create even greater opportunities for our students to thrive.
Goal: Student Achievement
By spring 2027, the district will increase the percentage of students scoring meeting or advanced in reading and math by 12%, as measured by state assessments.
Strategy 1: Ensure that all students receive high-quality instruction, grade level content, deep engagement and high expectations through the effective use of data.
Strategy 1 Action Steps
- Tier 3 Intervention Implementation
- Data meetings 2x a month to review student data that receive Tier 3 instruction.
- Monitor student attendance in Tier 3 intervention.
- Provide written informtion to parents of students participating in Tier 3 intervention about the process and requirements.
Strategy 2: Cultivate a safe, positive learning environment.
Strategy 2 Action Steps
- Implement initiatives that promote respect and inclusivity among students.
- Weekly agenda item during Focus team meeting to implement, review, revise, and celebrate what is working to promote respect and inclusivity in our school.
- Morning announcements that implement and celebrate students.
Strategy 3: Foster and strengthen family and community engagement.
Strategy 3 Action Steps
- Expand family engagement experiences that include genuine parent and teacher collaboration.
- Document that lists each grade family engagement activities.
- Promote family events through newsletters.
- Provide an open invitation to familes to attend.
