Pyramid Model at School
In a PYRAMID MODEL classroom, you will see:
- Classrooms organized into learning areas that are clearly labeled. This communicates the message to children that, “this is a place where you can do many things on your own and be independent.”
- Cubbies/coat hooks for each child. This communicates the message to children that, “you belong here.”
- Consistent daily routines and schedules. This communicates the message to children that, “this is a place you can trust.”
- Tucker Turtle, the Pyramid Model “mascot,” in books and on posters, reminding children how to calm strong feelings, how to be a super friend, and how to be a problem-solver!
- Rules and expectations for the classroom and other settings throughout our school. Expectations are posted throughout the building; and children, staff, and families uphold these standards of behavior.
- Positive behavior being taught, modeled, practiced and reinforced throughout the day.
- Classroom reinforcement systems. To reinforce positive behavior, children receive blocks with train stickers for following our school rules. Blocks are added to a class jar, and when the jar is full, the classroom gets to celebrate their positive behavior!
