Dear Wilson Families,

It is such an honor to be a part of the Wilson community. Our motto, “We are crew, not passengers,” truly reflects our school culture and community. Every person at Wilson is on board, working hard together to meet the ever changing needs of our most precious community resource, our children. Wilson Elementary is a very special place, where children and families are at the center of every decision we make. Our teachers, school staff, students, and volunteers go far beyond the call of duty every day, and truly exhibit a passion for what they have been called to do.

For those of you who are interested in my history, I am a Wisconsin transplant from the state of New Mexico. My family and I moved to Wisconsin almost five years ago. My husband Marc works in the Wauwatosa School district, my daughter Maya is a middle school teacher, and my son Luca is a shift manager at Starbucks in Milwaukee. We love most everything about the great state of Wisconsin, and have adjusted quite well to the winter weather. We especially enjoy going to Brewers games and kayaking when we can.

I have been in education for 29 years, beginning my teaching career in Costa Rica as an international student teacher. I have taught just about every grade level, and do my best to continue to work on my teaching skills every chance I get at Wilson. I hold a BA in Elementary Education with a focus in Bilingual Education, a MA in Curriculum and Instruction, and obtained my Principal’s license as a doctoral candidate at Edgewood College in Madison. I am also proud to be a National Board Certified teacher.

Expeditionary Learning is our instructional model at Wilson, and is a true reflection of my personal philosophy of education. I believe that children learn best by doing, and that they are capable of making a positive change in the world around them when given the chance.

Come by Wilson and see the wonderful things our school is doing. We love to host visitors, and our students enjoy “showing what they know.”
