Will evil be vanquished by virtue? Can love triumph over hate? <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bleak Expectations<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a hilarious, chaotic caper, featuring dastardly villains, preposterous names, pulse-quickening romances, heart-rending death scenes, and, of course, a happy ending.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audition Date<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> February 26th and 27th<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Audition Location<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> Tremper Studio Theatre (Room 120); Enter Tremper through Door 27 which\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is closest to 30th Avenue and 85th Street. Park in the west parking lot, on the north end\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(closest to 85th)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Audition Times<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> 5:50-8:00<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Audition Sign Up<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> 10 minute time slots will be posted outside of the Tremper Studio Theatre;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">students who are unable to get to Tremper before the audition day are welcome to\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">audition without signing up, and will be able to perform at the closest available time\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Audition Details<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> Auditioners will be asked to do two possible tasks during the audition<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Side Reading &#8211; Students are asked to perform one reading from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1yW87SzOV4FmtRZnZk32d3qq-Q2rPwI8m7cl_xU2x-7A\/edit\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">provided stories.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> These do not need to be fully memorized, but the performer should be quite familiar with them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jokes &#8211; Students are asked to prepare two jokes to tell<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Characters*:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Sir Philip Bin &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A celebrated author and the narrator<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Thomas Bin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; Father of the Bin family; a clumsy man who is treasured dearly by his family<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Agnes Bin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; Mother of the Bin family; fiercely devoted to her husband<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Pip Bin &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Young man and the hero of the story &#8211; he fights to protect those he loves and discovers himself along the way\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Pippa Bin &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pip\u2019s sister who is determined to fight the typical female archetype<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Poppy Bin &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pip and Pippa\u2019s younger sister who gets caught in Benevolent\u2019s scheming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Gently Benevolent &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pip\u2019s guardian and his personal nemesis<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Skinflint Parsimonious &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An extremely generous and giving soul who is Thomas Bin\u2019s friend and business advisor<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Harry Biscuit &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pip\u2019s best friend, and, later, brother-in-law; a cheerful, hopeful sort who is not afraid to show his emotions<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Bakewell Havertwitch &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A prisoner who Pip saves &#8211; he later returns the favor<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Headmaster Wackwell Hardthrasher\/Reverend Praygood Hardthrasher\/Miss Chastity Hardthrasher\/Jude Solomon Hardthrasher &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Evil family members who are accomplices of the evil Mr. Benevolent. Usually get bumped off in a gruesome way<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*There are several other smaller roles throughout the script. Additionally, several roles may be played by the same actor, known as \u201cdoubling\u201d depending on audition results.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rehearsal Information<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> Rehearsals will officially begin in March. Rehearsals will typically occur after school from 5:30 until 8:00. Rehearsals are currently planned to occur on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. A complete rehearsal calendar will be shared through KUSD Google Drive once the cast list is posted. Cast members are not permitted to miss more than three rehearsals, unless absences were already scheduled, so please list all conflicts on your audition form.
