{"id":791,"date":"2012-07-09T21:49:56","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T21:49:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brass.kusd.edu\/index.php\/?page_id=791"},"modified":"2021-03-10T20:27:59","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T20:27:59","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/information\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"School History"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the early 1950&#8217;s, over-crowded conditions existed at four schools in the townships of Pleasant Prairie and Somers.&nbsp; The growth of these areas served by the Dublin, Lamb, Sheridan Road, Springbrook, and Hannan Schools was expected to continue.&nbsp; In 1953, construction began on Prairie Lane Elementary School to accommodate the overflow of students.&nbsp; The original school consisted of four classrooms, a gymnasium, and other auxiliary rooms.&nbsp; A dedication ceremony for the new building was held on May 24, l954.&nbsp; Student populations served were grades 6, 7, and 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unanticipated population growth in the district made it necessary to construct the additions to Prairie Lane Elementary School in 1957 and l961.&nbsp; Additional classrooms, a library, a kitchen and dining room, an enlarged stage area, and showers expanded the original four-room school to 19 rooms housing grades kindergarten through eight.&nbsp; With the new, larger school in the district, the Dublin, Lamb, Sheridan Road, Springbrook, and Hannan Schools eventually closed their doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seventh and eighth grades were disbanded in l965 when Prairie Lane School was absorbed into the Kenosha Unified School District.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the early 1950&#8217;s, over-crowded conditions existed at four schools in the townships of Pleasant Prairie and Somers.&nbsp; The growth of these areas served by the Dublin, Lamb, Sheridan Road, [&#8230;]\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":13486,"menu_order":6,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"template-sidebar-left.php","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-791","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/791","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=791"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/791\/revisions"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/13486"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/prairielane\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=791"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
