This is where I will post the Q & A concerning our school.  See below with each dated entry.

When is the last day of school?

Wednesday, June 13th is the last day. It is also a half day of school with no lunch served.

When will I find out if my 4K child is AM or PM?

The school will send out letters to families of 4K students mid-August once we have most registrations in and we will let you know if they are in AM or PM classes so you can work child care around that. If you want to let us know your preference you can do so by calling the office.

When is 5th grade Celebration?

Monday, June 11th  – Doors open at 5:30 pm.

When is Spring Break – Spring Break begins with no school on Friday, March 30th and goes through Sunday, April 8th.
When is 5th grade Celebration ?  Monday, June 11th.
When is Sports Day?  Wednesday, June 6th.  This is the only date – no rain date.

When will the next major assessments be?
Recently we just finished the MAP assessments (grades 2-3-4-5)  for the winter as well as PALS results fro 4K – 2nd grade.  The forward exam will be held AFTER spring break with MAP Spring testing wrapping up in May.
What is the GALA?  The Gala is a PTA sponsored event for adults on Circa on Seventh on Feb. 17th. This special event is a fundraiser for the school as well as a social gathering that includes raffles for baskets, prizes and hors d’oeuvres.
Where can I find out more about events at school?  If you go under the “Calendar” tab on our website, you will be linked directly to our school Google calendar that will note Field Trips, sponsored events, Fund Nights at local restaurants as well as school activities to plan for.

How long do Parent Teacher Conferences last?  Each conference is scheduled for 20 minutes and to make the best of the time, please email any concerns or questions to your student’s teacher so they can have answers for you prepared.  It is a great time to connect again and it would be nice to leave a little note to your child… let them know you are behind their learning 100%
When is Thanksgiving break?  There will be a half day on Nov. 22nd. Then off on Nov. 23-24-25-25-26

Do I need to do anything now to enroll my child for the upcoming school year?  YES!  Every parent must enroll their child for the upcoming school year by going online to Infinite Campus.  Click here for more information.  We want to make sure each child gets assigned to a classroom and that we have all updated information for your contact to keep you informed!
What time does school get out on Fridays?  This year school will get out at 12:46 pm on Fridays!  Please make sure you have afterschool arrangements made.
What do I need to do NOW – to get ready for school?
1. Enroll on line – see above.
2. Arrange Before or After School Care
3. Get School Supplies
4. Check frequently on our school Facebook page or website for periodic updates.
5. Note the dates – Open House – August 30th – Wednesday night. – First day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 5th.
When should I keep my child home sick?  See the attached flyer to help you.  The goal is great attendance but we also need to take care of our little ones to get them here healthy and happy.  A few key pieces – 1 – No fevers.  2- Ask yourself – are they getting better at school or do they need rest and home?  3 – Are they at risk of getting other children sick?  4 – If you decide to keep your child home, call 262-359-2159 and leave a message – who, what symptoms, and what teacher.  
Getting off to a great start…. read this !  This information helps with many topics ranging from lunches, bus pick up, registration costs and medical matters. 
How will I be informed as a parent?  We have several avenues to keep a parent informed and engaged.  The best results come when the school and families are on the same page.  We will do this through the following approaches:
1 – School Facebook page provided periodic pictures, announcements and updates:  Search for Pleasant Prairie Elementary School and  “Like”. This is good for emergencies, last minutes announcements such as school closings, and also for seeing what a week look likes inside the school!
* New this year – we will have a Pleasant Prairie PTA Facebook page also for events, volunteers, and sign ups. 
2 – School website – this resource is for families and the community to get forms, see events, and learn more of our school.  Also look under the various tabs for PARENTS, and other areas to help with resources for your student and family.
3 – Monday Academic updates each Monday, teachers will be posting on-line a weekly update that helps parents know what to do for that week and how they can help their child succeed. We all live busy lives with children and it helps to juggle the schedule to see what is due and when to help keep things in order.
4 – Phone calls – I will make periodic phone calls home to say hello and to highlight a few things and events.  I do this for all families here and there to make sure you know my voice and to also keep it personal. 
5 – emails – Feel free to email teachers and staff.  On our website click on the tabs Classrooms or Contact to find the emails and keep in touch. This is great way to communicate as the teachers are teaching and they will reply when they have an open time to do so.
