Return 2020 and reactor groups
KUSD is reviewing the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s recommendations for reopening schools released on Monday to determine what pieces, if any, can be used to enhance our draft Return 2020 plan. A great deal of time, thought and expertise has gone into our draft work, and will continue in the weeks ahead. Those who missed our high-level presentation of this work can watch the meeting on the KUSD YouTube page.
We kindly ask that parents/guardians complete this brief survey, by Sunday, July 5, to let us know whether you are leaning toward in-person instruction or virtual learning for your children this school year. This general information will help with planning, but does not lock families into their selection for the 2020-21 school year. Once we have released our approved Return 2020 plan, we will ask that parents/guardians make a final decision no later than Aug. 7, 2020.
In addition, we will be hosting virtual reactor groups for parents/guardians and staff on:
- Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. in Spanish
- Tuesday, July 7, at 6 p.m. in English
- Wednesday, July 8, at 5:30 p.m. in English
- Thursday, July 9, at noon in English
- Thursday, July 9, at 5 p.m. in Spanish
These reactor groups will provide feedback surrounding KUSD's draft work for reopening schools in fall 2020 amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic. Groups are limited to 30 participants per topic per date and will be moderated for the purpose of conversation. Spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited, so the meetings will be recorded and posted online for others to view who are not able to participate. The goal will be to find out what families and staff believe is missing and what questions still remain after listening to a brief presentation of the district's plans to date.
To sign up to be a part of these reactor groups, please click the link below and add your name and email next to the date/time that works best for you no later than Sunday, July 5. Once the lists are complete, details about how to log into the meetings will be sent to participants.

We cannot stress enough the importance of this topic and the tremendous amount of work that is being done to ensure we are prepared despite a future with many unknown variables. Our end goal is to provide options that will meet all family’s needs regardless of what obstacles we may face with the looming pandemic.
