Greetings, McKinley Community!
It is such an honor to be the principal of McKinley Elementary. McKinley has served our neighborhood students for generations, and I am excited to continue the amazing traditions as well as create new ones together with you all. It is a joy to connect with so many of our students in the hallways and classrooms over the past several years. I also get to greet many of our McCubbies and their grown ups in the drop off line each morning!
Learning thrives when students, staff, and families work together. This collaborative partnership creates a strong foundation for our learners to be successful. Our McKinley staff engages our learners with many important and enriching learning experiences each day and meet each learner where they are at so they grow to maximize their greatest potential. It is exciting to see our staff and students connect and form positive relationships with each other. We know these relationships further enhance the social, emotional, and academic progress of our McCubbies.
On a personal note, I am a graduate of KUSD and have worked for KUSD since 2001. I have been a substitute teacher, classroom teacher in elementary and middle schools, as well as a teacher consultant and an instructional coach. My husband Joel is the principal at Brass Community School, and we have three daughters: Meredith, Molly, and Mallory. We also have a chocolate lab named Ragnar. I love coffee, walks and binge watching shows with my family. I also love to read, organize & decorate our house, and travel.
Another fun fact is that my mom taught at McKinley Elementary for many years. I spent many hot summer days helping decorate bulletin boards when I was a little girl. In fact, our current school office used to be my mother’s classroom! My connection with McKinley goes back to childhood, and my time spent here sparked in me the love of learning and future career aspirations as an educator.
Every day we have the privilege of working with your students and understand that we share with you the responsibility to help them develop their skills and talents. An African proverb states, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Thank you for working together with us so that our McCubbies will grow up to achieve all of the goals they set for themselves.

Es un gran honor ser la directora de McKinley Elementary este año. McKinley ha servido a los estudiantes de nuestro vecindario durante generaciones, y estoy emocionada de continuar con las increíbles tradiciones y crear otras nuevas junto con todos ustedes. Me he conectado con muchos de nuestros estudiantes en los pasillos y salones de clase durante los últimos años. ¡También puedo saludar a muchos de nuestros McCubbies y sus adultos en la línea de entrega cada mañana!
El aprendizaje prospera cuando los estudiantes, el personal y las familias trabajan juntos. Esta asociación de colaboración crea una base sólida para que nuestros alumnos tengan éxito. Nuestro personal de McKinley involucra a nuestros alumnos con muchas experiencias de aprendizaje importantes y enriquecedoras todos los días y conoce a cada alumno donde se encuentra para que crezca y maximice su mayor potencial. Es emocionante ver a nuestro personal y estudiantes conectarse y formar relaciones positivas entre ellos. En una nota personal, soy una graduada de KUSD y he trabajado para KUSD desde 2001. He sido maestra sustituta, maestra de aula en escuelas primarias y secundarias, así como consultor de maestros y entrenadora de instrucción. Mi esposo Joel es el director de Brass Community School y tenemos tres hijas: Meredith, Molly y Mallory. También tenemos un laboratorio de chocolate llamado Ragnar. Me encanta el café, las caminatas y los atracones de programas con mi familia. También me encanta leer, organizar y decorar nuestra casa y viajar.
Otro dato divertido es que mi mamá enseñó en McKinley Elementary durante muchos años. Pasé muchos días calurosos de verano ayudando a decorar tableros de anuncios cuando era niña. De hecho, ¡la oficina de nuestra escuela actual solía ser el salón de clases de mi madre! Mi conexión con McKinley se remonta a la infancia, y el tiempo que pasé aquí despertó en mí el amor por el aprendizaje y futuras aspiraciones profesionales como educador.
Todos los días tenemos el privilegio de trabajar con sus alumnos y entendemos que compartimos con ustedes la responsabilidad de ayudarlos a desarrollar sus habilidades y talentos. Un proverbio africano dice: “Si quieres ir rápido, ve solo. Si quieres llegar lejos, ve acompañado”.
