NJHS members are committed to making a positive impact in their school and community through service projects, leadership opportunities, and acts of kindness. Through NJHS, students have space to develop their leadership skills while learning the importance of giving back and making a difference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p><b>Service hours can be submitted to the NJHS advisors or the main office.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applications for admission are based on GPA and will be mailed to potential 6th &amp; 7th grade candidates in spring after third quarter\u2019s grades have been posted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p><b>Important Dates:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Friday, May 7, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2014 Applications and service hours for new members are due<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Monday, May 17, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2014 2026-2027 Induction Ceremony<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Friday, May 28, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2014 Service hours for current members are due<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p><b>In order to <\/b><b><i>qualify<\/i><\/b><b> for Mahone\u2019s NJHS, students are expected to:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maintain a <\/span><b>3.5 Grade Point Average<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (or higher) for the first three quarters of the year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Complete <\/span><b>12 or more documented hours of community service<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> by spring of 2026.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Service hours may begin to be accumulated and documented from the first day of school.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hours include service to school, church, family or community \u2014 anything where you are not compensated for your service.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Demonstrate strong <\/span><b>character<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><b>leadership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> through behavior and interaction with others.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Behavioral referrals resulting in ISS or OSS could be grounds for rejection or immediate dismissal from NJHS.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p><b>In order to <\/b><b><i>maintain<\/i><\/b><b> membership in Mahone\u2019s NJHS, students must:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maintain a <\/span><b>3.5 GPA<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (or higher) each quarter.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One quarter below a 3.5 GPA results in probation.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A second quarter below a 3.5 GPA in a given school year results in dismissal from NJHS.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Complete <\/span><b>12 or more hours of community service<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> during the school year.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Service must be documented on service hour sheets and turned in to NJHS advisors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Failure to complete the hours and turn in documentation results in dismissal from NJHS.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Demonstrate strong <\/span><b>character<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><b>leadership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> through a strong behavior record.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Any out-of-school suspension results in dismissal from NJHS.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Any three referrals in a given school year result in dismissal from NJHS.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thank you,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NJHS Advisors<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ms. Pavlak &amp;
