{"id":17416,"date":"2026-04-21T10:17:53","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T15:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/mahone\/?post_type=news&#038;p=17416"},"modified":"2026-04-24T09:09:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T14:09:20","slug":"8th-grade-advancement-2","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/mahone\/news\/8th-grade-advancement-2\/","title":{"rendered":"8th Grade Advancement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>8th Grade Families,<br \/>\nWe are looking forward to celebrating our 8th graders at this year\u2019s Advancement Promenade, which will be held at Mahone on\u00a0<strong>Tuesday, June 9, from 5:00\u20137:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This event is held in front of the school. There are numerous photo opportunities, and students will have a chance to have their name read as they walk across the stage and get their advancement certificate. Families can show up any time between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. and can stay as long as they would like.<\/p>\n<p>All 8th grade students move on to high school. However, to participate in the advancement promenade, students must earn a <strong>minimum 1.0 GPA for 8th grade<\/strong>. After third-quarter grades were finalized, families of students who are in danger of not meeting this requirement received a letter in the mail as a heads-up that their child may be at risk of not qualifying for this event.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth-quarter grades will be finalized on the morning of\u00a0<strong>Friday, June 5<\/strong>, and families of any students who do not meet the requirement will be notified at that time.<br \/>\nThank you for your continued support as we work together to help all students finish the year strong.
