Academic and Career Planning
An academic and career plan (ACP) is an academic plan that looks at the student’s individual learning plan that consists of their interests, needs, learning goals, and graduation requirements. It documents a student’s connections to their school and community including community service, volunteerism, hobbies and activities, and post-secondary planning.
Development of an ACP involves students, parents, staff, and counselors. The plan is obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of planning skills. Activities focus on academic, personal, social, and career development with the purpose of preparing students to be college and career ready.
Parents/Guardians are an important part of the ACP process by supporting their child’s career exploration. Parents participate in their child’s ACP portfolio presentation to fulfill the requirement for the 8th-grade promotion. This process will assist parents and their student in making informed decisions to meet their academics, career goals, and a smooth high school transition.
