I&#8217;m Becky Brugge-Brown, an educator committed to nurturing success in every student I encounter. With 16 years of experience in education, my journey began as an educational interpreter for 7 years, where I gained valuable insights into the diverse needs of students, particularly those who are deaf and hard of hearing. Transitioning into a teaching role nine years ago, I&#8217;ve had the privilege of empowering students as a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing. For the past two years, I&#8217;ve held a split position between Lance Middle School and Tremper High School, embracing the unique opportunities of teaching across different educational levels. I firmly believe that success is within reach for every student who works hard and maintains the right attitude. Beyond the classroom, you can find me immersed in a good book, tending to my garden, or cherishing precious moments with my family.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The program for deaf and hard of hearing students in grades 6, 7, and 8 at Lance Middle School utilizes the services of a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, certified educational interpreters, a speech-language therapist, and an educational audiologist. Guidance counseling, social work services and psychological services are also available on-site for the entire student population.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>We, in this program, believe that our students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>are entitled to communication in the sign\/speech mode with which they are most comfortable, and which is presented in a clear and effective manner.<\/li>\n<li>deserve equal access to academics, electives, extra-curricular activities and school organizations in which they are interested.<\/li>\n<li>have the right to learn and be respected in a positive school climate.<\/li>\n<li>must develop the skills necessary to problem solve and find answers in a technological society.<\/li>\n<li>provide the motivation for building a sign language base with hearing peers, thus permitting friendships and classroom interactions which do not require an interpreter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ms. Brugge (DHH Teacher) Hello!
