In conjunction with the citywide truancy ordinance, it is our commitment in KUSD to work diligently with parents and guardians to promote consistent and committed school attendance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/board-education\/policies\/policy-5310-student-attendance\/\">Board Policy 5310: Student Attendance<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>KUSD&#8217;s Student Sick Procedures<\/h2>\n<p>Click the link below to view the KUSD Sick Day Procedures:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/district\/sick-guidelines\/\">Student Sick Procedures<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Frequently Asked Questions<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>When my child is absent, what should I do?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Call\u00a0<em>262-359-8953<\/em> any time within 24 hours of the absence, or use your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to report the absence.\u00a0 If you leave a message, please identify yourself by name and then be sure to include the student\u2019s name, grade, ID number, and reason for their missing school.\u00a0 If at any time a student comes late to school, he\/she MUST sign in at the <em>Main Office<\/em>\u00a0whether or not a call has been previously placed. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">If your child has a class at Harborside, you will need to contact Harborside as well at 359-8400<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Absences not cleared by a parent or guardian within five days will not be excused unless formal documentation is provided by a doctor, court, etc.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What should my child do if he\/she becomes ill at school?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Students must go to the\u00a0<em>Main Office<\/em> either during passing time or with a pass from their classroom teacher.\u00a0 The office staff will contact a parent\/guardian for permission for the student go go home. The student must sign-out in the office before leaving the building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What does my child do if he\/she has an appointment during the day?<br \/>\n<\/strong>The parent\/guardian should enter a request for the student to leave early through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, or call the attendance line at 262-359-8953.\u00a0At the time indicated for departure, your child should go to the<em>\u00a0Main Office<\/em>\u00a0for proper sign-out before leaving the building.\u00a0 A timely return is expected with the student signing back in at the\u00a0<em>Main Office<\/em>\u00a0unless otherwise specified.\u00a0 NOTE:\u00a0 State law does not allow the school to excuse students for job interviews or any appointments that are not specific to that student.
