Students receive instruction in English and Spanish, beginning in Kindergarten, where students receive instruction in Spanish and in English. Our 4K class begins with 90% instruction in Spanish and 10% instruction in English. The percentage of English instruction increases by 10% as the student progress to each grade, until the instruction is 50\/50 in grades 3-5. \u00a0Our school&#8217;s test scores exceed state expectations for student achievement, student growth, educational equity and preparing students for educational milestones, including college and career readiness.<\/p>\n<h2>Benefits of our Dual Language Program:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Students become bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural.<\/li>\n<li>Greater cognitive development<\/li>\n<li>Advanced language skills for future academic and career opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Improved problem solving and decision making<\/li>\n<li>Opens up new social opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Procedures for Applying to the Dual Language Program<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The KSOL enrollment procedure begins every year during the month of November.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The following factors are taken into consideration to meet our program goals of a Dual Language Program:\n<ul>\n<li>English dominant<\/li>\n<li>Spanish dominant<\/li>\n<li>Bilingual<\/li>\n<li>Language other than English or Spanish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"row\"  id=\"row-1183891201\">\n\n\t<div id=\"col-321074280\" class=\"col small-12 large-12\"  >\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-inner\"  >\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n<p>Families wishing to enter the lottery for choice schools must complete individual forms for each school they are interested in attending. If there are more applicants than space available a lottery process is used. See the lottery process guidelines above.<\/li>\n<li>Siblings of students currently enrolled in dual language are given preference for enrollment up to the end of 1st semester of 1st grade.<\/li>\n<li>In grades 2nd -5th a Spanish Screener (our ENIL assessment) is used to determine the student\u2019s reading level and whether or not the student understands Spanish instructions. If the student is within a year\u2019s reading level of the grade level average, and can understand Spanish instructions we will accept them (pending space available).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ms. Barbara Sanchez, Principal (262-359-2006) or Ms. Sarah Smith, Coordinator of Language Acquisition Programs (262-359-5909) are available to provide more information or respond to questions regarding the dual language program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Give your child the gift of a second language!
