“You gotta focus on what’s real.”
~ Jake the Dog from Adventure Time
Motivated by finding the truth and having fun along the way, I proudly represent The Pulse newspaper and have survived to my third year as a journalist on staff. This is my final year on staff and while I will be saddened to leave, I’m excited to explore new things and make my adviser proud.
Thank you for supporting us thus far, and I can’t wait for you to see what we create.

“Be kind to yourself, the way you would be to someone you love.”
~ Courtney Peppernell
Hi! My name is Katlyn, I also go by Katie.
I’m now a senior, and am so ready to write some articles and make some illustrations!
I love writing about whatever I can and being able to share and connect with new people. I love listening to new music, as well as trying out new mediums for art. I enjoy other things like reading, painting, or crocheting. I try to prioritize my family and friends, and I enjoy the time I spend with them.
I joined The Pulse, because I wanted to use it as an outlet to boost my writing skills and help me in the future for job opportunities. I simply get energized being able to share news with my peers and connect with each other through my writing, and I can’t wait to create more experiences again. ____________________________________

Hello, my name is Sophia Hysaw, and I am a senior at Indian Trail High School. I like to read, write, and watch movies in my free time. I love to write fictional stories and hope to pursue a future in writing.
This will be my second year writing for The Pulse, and I am so excited to see what news stories we’ll be able to cover this year. I can’t wait to cover important topics that my fellow students find as interesting as I do.

Hi, my name’s Curtis! I’m currently a senior in the Communications Academy. My passions are photography, photo editing, graphic design, and poetry. Prior to this year I worked on ITTV as one of the main show editors, but I decided to switch things up and come here to pursue my love for photography.
I’ve had a creative side to me ever since I was young. I would use cartoons, anime, and manga for inspiration for the stories and characters I’d come up with. I’d spend any free time I had in school doodling in notebooks with dreams of one day publishing my own comics. Since then, I’ve broadened my horizons and decided to take my creativity to other places. I still enjoy drawing, but now it’s just a hobby for me. I would still love to write and illustrate my own story (specifically a horror story) someday!
Nowadays I find much more joy in photography, and it’s actually something I’d like to integrate into my career. I want to double major in Communications and Marketing. A field like Communications gives me the creative freedom I’ve always wanted, and won’t necessarily keep me tied down to a boring cubicle for 8 hours a day! Working a job that I actually have fun doing has always been one of my goals, and I think that really applies to most people. When you’re doing something you enjoy, you’ll feel more motivated to give your best effort and put out better work.
Despite this being my first (and last) year on The Pulse, I really hope to fine tune my skills and gain lots of experience here. This is a great opportunity and I don’t want to pass it up. Here’s to a good rest of the year!

“A dream is only a dream…until you decide to make it real.”
Hey! I’m Samantha Mandujano. I’m a senior in the Communications Academy!
I dream of majoring in either Graphic Design or Illustration. My main passion is making art, but some of my other hobbies include baking, shopping, gardening, gem collecting, sight-seeing, and listening to music. I’ve been practicing for years already, and I absolutely love experimenting with all kinds of different art mediums! I’m always more than happy to try new things.
Life can be quite hectic and so much happens on the daily, so I occasionally try my best to enjoy the simple things in life. I really adored The Pulse last year, and I can confidently say that I’ll surely love it this year again. I’m hoping that I can put my knowledge & experience to use in any way possible. I look forward to a successful year! <3

“I’ll do you one better, WHY IS GAMORA!?”
~ Drax (Avengers: Endgame)
Hi my name is Savannah Cooks, and I am a senior in the Communications Academy. Through the academy I found a love for digital graphics and film that lead me to The Pulse. Not only did I join The Pulse because of the academy, I also joined because I have a love for writing. I spend a lot of my time coming up with characters and stories. I have a love for entertainment and pop-culture, which is what I mostly write about for The Pulse.
Something interesting about me is that I love Marvel. A better word to describe my love is obsessed. Every penny I have goes towards it, but it is the best thing ever so I don’t really mind. It’s one of the things that’s always on.
I also like to read, watch movies and T.V. shows, and draw/create things. If I had to describe my hobbies I would say that I dabble in everything; creating things brings a joy to me.

Hi! I’m Jayden Kimpel, and I’m a senior in the Communications Academy.
Ever since I learned how to write, I never stopped. I love writing stories, articles, and even profiles on people. Because writing is such an important aspect of my life, my mother has drawers and even filing cabinets full of notebooks with my writing in it from over the years. My writing has inspired me to join AP English classes and most importantly, caused me to join the Communications Academy.
Besides being in newspaper, I’m also the Division One Lieutenant Governor in Key Club, an editor in Yearbook, and an active member in Chorale. Some other interests I have are photography, digital design, watching movies, and reading. My favorite book series and movie series is the Twilight saga.
I’m looking forward to putting my all into every story and photo I take this year, along with making lifelong memories and friendships within this year’s staff!

Hello! I’m Stephanie Perez, and I am a senior in the Communications Academy. I love spending my free time watching films, spending time with friends and family, and reading. I am a big fan of basically anything that is on Disney+ and I love watching new stuff when I get the chance to (If you have any recommendations let me know! ).
I am very passionate about creating things and I put all my effort and dedication into everything I do. Putting a lot of thought and detail into everything I do is something that is very important to me as well. I have always loved storytelling and just connecting with people on such a large scale, and that is why I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be part of The Pulse this year. Can’t wait to share my ideas and thoughts with you all 🙂

My name is Sebastian Romero, and I’m a junior that in the Communications Academy. I love to take photos, write about albums, games, and movies, and play a lot of video games with my friends.
As a kid, I always loved to do a lot of things like writing, playing the guitar, and drawing. Now, I have gotten into more writing, photography, and video editing. I still have the ambition and drive about all of those activities, but writing reviews on things gives me a sense of freedom and point of view on entertainment content. Everyone has got their own opinions, and I want to share mine and share other people’s opinions at the same time on certain entertainment content as well.
I want to show the world my talents and still keep practicing on those talents to achieve to the best of my abilities.
My name is Dahlia, I am currently a senior and active in Boys Scouts of America and working at Goodwill. My main inspiration for writing is movies and how well written they can be. My hobbies are video games, watching movies, listening to music, camping, and going on mini adventures with my friends.
