School is back in session and with that notion the hallways and class- rooms are filled with young students, donned in array of patterns and fabrics.

“I love anything print, absolutely anything print!” says Karla Cid, a senior in the Communications Academy.

Where stripes and polka dots once dominated, a different type of print is taking over and that print is crosses. They are everywhere, from t-shirts to jewelry, in every which way, upright, upside down and sideways. Despite their religious roots, crosses have become the new, must-have embellishment. Other prints and patterns making waves are camouflage, animal print, floral print, Nordic print, Aztec print and patented leather.

Not only have the patterns changed, what you will find them on differs as well. Jean jackets have practically reinvented themselves, in new colors, patterns and styles, combining with leather and other fabrics. High-waist skirts, shorts, and pants have become popular also.

We can’t forget shoes! Oxfords, loafers, and combat boots are also quite essential for a trendy look. These shoes, embellished with different studs, jewels, and such, have become common sight amongst the student body.

Of course not everyone marches to the beat of the same drum and what’s trendy isn’t the only thing you’ll see. Indian Trail is filled with a variety of people with differing styles and thoughts, and that makes for a melting pot of fashion — that follows the dress code of course.
