This year is the first time that Indian Trail High School and Academy is at full capacity. That means our school is home to over 2,000 students, hundreds of teachers, and many staff members. This also means that our school has more pride than ever, but we could do with more.

Students should always be talking about how es- tablished our school has become and supporting ev- ery part of it. Our clubs and organizations are getting noticed throughout the nation; our sports teams hold some of the highest ranks in the state; our academics offer a wide array of specialty studies that no other school has under one roof; and a beautiful auditori- um is always being filled with various arts like music and theatre.

A lot of teachers are doing their part by wearing their Hawk gear, engaging with their students, and watching over after school activities. Adam King, our

activities director, spreads Hawk pride wherever he goes. During our “Pink Week” he encouraged us to join together for a good cause, and the outcome was amazing. As a school, we raised $6,424 for Circle of Hope and raised our spirits in the process. The stu- dents really showed that we can forget our differences and unite for something special. This was also dis- played at the IT vs Tremper football game two weeks before on Sept. 13, 2013 when we overtook the Trem- per home stands because we had so many students who came out to support our school.

School spirit helps you forget about the rough times and create lasting memories. It only takes a few people to stand up and say “Yes, I have school pride! I am proud to be a Hawk!”. The feeling will spread and we will inspire each other. We will be able to walk through the halls with some pep in our step. Be able to actually feel our worth in the air. So stop trudging

along through the halls, day after day, doing the same old thing, creating a rut for yourself. Join the group of students who are already proud and spreading their wings!

Indian Trail is made up of many different sec- tions, but that doesn’t make us different. Whether you wear a sports jersey, a cardigan, a military uni- form, or a band t-shirt, at the end of the day we are all Hawks. Being a part of something important gives you such a tremendous feeling inside. It makes your heart beat faster, your thoughts start flowing, and ultimately makes you feel better about yourself. We need to make an investment into our school. The time we spend here can either go unrecognized or we can make a mark on our community. If we spread this spirit and pride to every incoming class they can keep it going year after year. It only takes one person to make a change that could start a legacy.
