Indian Trail High School & Academy’s 2020 girls tennis season was short, but it was one of the team’s most successful seasons with an overall record of 5-1.

Players ranked second in conference and earned a plaque for sportsmanship.

“With our situation constantly changing, it was difficult to ensure that we were all on the same page,” said Anglea Konicki, the junior varsity and varsity girls tennis coach. “Luckily the team has been good with our safety protocols.”

Ava Murawski, a Med-Sci Academy junior, has been playing for 10 years and has the skills to show for it.

“The hardest thing I’ve had to face this season is the conference tournament,” Murawski said. “We placed second for the first time in three years and won in three tiebreakers.”

Even though practices and games were postponed and changed constantly, the team had an impressive winning season.

Tennis Captain Lainy Ristau has been playing since she was in diapers and can’t wait for more.

“I’m excited for the years to come and that this team has truly been great and very supportive,” said Ristau, a General Studies sophomore.

New players are always welcomed and encouraged to join. First time player Quinn Sepanski expressed how much playing means to her.

“I played it in gym and I thought it would be really fun to try out this year,” said Sepanski, a General Studies sophomore. “It’ll be fun and rewarding, and you’ll really enjoy it.”
