Indian Trail ambassador election heats up

Indian Trail High School and Academy is having elections for its very own ambassador! The Advanced Placement Government class, under the direction of Che Kearby, advises the campaign. Theodore S. and Tiffany T. are the two candidates competing for this position which will be decided tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 7.  Students who wish to cast their ballot for one of the candidates can vote during all lunches at polling booths set up in the Commons areas.

Each candidate has promoted themselves through various forms of media such as videos, web content, posters, as well as delivering speeches. The purpose of this activity is to give the Government students a broader view  on the content they have been learning in class.

“It helps to understand the concept,” says Molly O., a Communications senior.

Each party had to promote itself, their candidate and their ideas on improving the school. Both parties surveyed the student population of Indian Trail as to what are issues they would like to be resolved. Common issues include locker problems and crowded hallways.

Both parties have reached a high point in their campaigns. For Theodore S.’ party, a large poster featuring Theo’s face was hung in the Communications commons and for Tiffany T.’s party, students danced to support her party.

Each of the candidates had their own take on how the election has gone so far.

“Realistically the election is for the better of the school as a whole,” said Tiffany T. “It’s not a popularity contest.”

Theodore S. says, “Tiffany and her team have done a lot of good in this election, they’ve done a lot of stuff better than we have, but I’m still confident that I’ll win.”

The election results will be posted at a later date on The Pulse Online.
