SPOILER ALERT

Jim Halpert & Pam Beesly:

The Office is filled with star-studded performances and brilliant character development from almost the entire cast. The writers of The Office crafted the show so impeccably that it is easy to mistake the show for an actual documentary because of their ability to create real characters and real relationships. The most compelling relationship was the love between the paper salesman and the receptionist. From the beginning of the show, all the way to their marriage, Jim Halpert’s struggle to win the affection of Pam Beesly from her fiancé has provided the series with a lot of chances for gut-busting moments, like their pranks put upon Dwight, to tear-inducing events in their life, like their first kiss.

April Ludgate & Andy Dwyer:

Greg Daniels and Michael Schur of The Office fame prove themselves again with Parks & Recreation by creating a relationship that is very, very different from Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly, yet with the same amount of love. The pairing of April Ludgate and Andy Dwyer happened as naturally as any relationship in the world happens. Andy Dwyer, originally a first season only character, was initially in a long-term relationship with another character, however due to being a standout character, he was upped to a series regular for the rest of the show. April and Andy rarely interacted at the show’s inception, however, as the show progressed, they quickly showed chemistry with each other and by the show’s third season, they surprised everyone by getting married!

Roseanne and Dan Conner:

Roseanne is known for being one of the first sitcoms, let alone television program, that gave a truthful look at America’s typical working-class, blue- collar family. Dealing with issues of drugs, domestic abuse, homosexuality, poverty, and health issues, like high blood pressure, this sitcom has proven to be a very real show with issues that are very real life. Perhaps the most real thing about this show was the troubled marriage of Roseanne and Dan Conner. They can go from loving each other to arguments that lead to flipped over couches, broken vases, and destroyed living rooms. Despite all their flaws, it is clear that death is the only thing stopping their perilous, yet endearing marriage.

Homer & Marge Simpson:

The Simpsons family is known for being one of the first animated TV families to gain popularity in America and it’s easy to see why. Despite being yellow and perpetually the same age, Matt Groening has been able to create a family that everyone can relate to. Rebellious kid, overachieving daughter, working-class father, and stay-at-home mom, America’s typical nuclear family is represented in an exaggerated, comedic way. Despite his faults and intelligence, it’s easy to see that Marge is unconditionally in love with Homer and the feeling between them is mutual. Through The Simpsons 25-season run and even movie, Homer and Marge have always remained in love with each other and have lasted longer than most celebrity marriages do.

Cory Matthews & Topanga Lawrence:

From the middle school teasing to the actual marriage, Boy Meets World covers everything that needs to be covered when portraying young love. From the beginning, young Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence clearly had a dislike for each other, however, as the series progressed you saw them get closer until they actually got married. The thought of marrying so young may seem foolhardy to most, however, give somebody a DVD copy of Boy Meets World and they will quickly understand.

Fry & Leela:

The fish-out-of-water archetype is introduced to a welcome modification in the form of a love story in Futurama. Philip J. Fry, being the out-of-place time traveler in the year 3000, and Turanga Leela, being the frequently avoided one-eyed mutant, together create a power couple that can be summed up in one word: “what?” Yeah, I know, it’s a pretty weird premise, but it works pretty well. The crush Fry has on Leela has been the heart of the show, with many episodes focusing on the relationship between the two. Whether it be Leela sacrificing the very structure of time, or Fry trading hands with the robot devil to play her a beautiful song, it is very clear that Fry and Leela have an immense amount of love each other and they are prepared to make sacrifices on account of it.
