Program Overview
Kenosha Unified School District’s 4K Program provides the basis for your child’s success by offering an engaging learning environment that will make his/her first school experience exciting and fun! Our certified, high-quality educators will nurture your child’s curiosity by listening to your child and creating individual learning goals that meet his/her social, emotional, cognitive and physical abilities.
Young children learn best through hands-on experiences and play. In the 4K Program, your child will participate in a wide variety of experiences that will help him/her learn pre-reading, math skills, learn problem solving skills and gain independence. The 4K experience will help your child become more competent, confident and self-assured.
In the 4K Program, the focus is not just on the child, it is also, geared towards building trusting relationships with our parents/guardians that encourage family engagement both at home and in the classroom. As the parent, you are the expert on your child, our teachers will partner with you to build strong, caring relationships that will help your child flourish.
Our overall goal in the 4K Program is to ensure your child is well cared for and enjoying his/her, learning experience while gaining the knowledge needed to do well in Kindergarten and beyond!
Who is eligible?
The 4K Program is open to all children who turn 4 years old on or before September 1st. They can attend either their neighborhood/boundary school or any of our partner childcare centers. Our partner centers provide s 4K curriculum for a half day and childcare before/after school to meet your family’s needs. If you choose to send your child to one our partner centers, you may be required to pay for the before/after childcare that is provided.
