(Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026) \u2013 Approximately 70 Kenosha Unified girls took to the field at Hammes Field at Racine Case High School on Wednesday, Sept. 2, for their first-ever flag football games as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drivennflflag.com\/\">Donald Driver-Driven NFL FLAG Football League<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bradford, Indian Trail and Tremper each fielded teams of approximately 24 girls, with each team competing in two games during the inaugural competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Donald Driver-Driven NFL FLAG Football League provides a fun, safe and empowering environment for female athletes to learn the game, build confidence and compete alongside their peers. The non-contact format emphasizes football fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship and character development while creating an opportunity for athletes of all skill levels to participate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are honored to be part of this pioneering initiative in Southeast Wisconsin that will allow our students to grow, compete and flourish,\u201d said KUSD Coordinator of Athletics Nick Myers. \u201cKenosha Unified prides itself on the extracurricular opportunities we provide our students, and the addition of girls\u2019 flag football enhances those opportunities for our female students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kenosha Unified looks forward to seeing its student-athletes continue to grow and flourish both on and off the field through this new opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program is a great example of what can happen when schools and communities come together for our students,\u201d said KUSD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Weiss. \u201cInvesting in students creates opportunities for them to build leadership, confidence and lifelong skills that will serve them well in both school and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Community members are encouraged to support these student athletes at upcoming games.
